The cars in Pocket Rs represent the soul of the stricken player, and can be augmented through the collection of ‘Soul Shards’ which litter the play ar. Collecting these allows the user to inflict massive damage on rival cars or the debris that clutters the race ar, while additional wpons such as nitro boosts, missiles and ice can be used to snk past opposing rs. These extra wpons are left around the courses, and must be gathered before your opponents get them. The courses range from a messy bedroom, a conveyor belt-laden factory and a kitchen, and fture snky short cuts and hidden extras for the player to find. Pocket Rs also has a of vehicle styles that are idlly suited to the varying loions. cars, trucks, 4x4s and Coupes vie for attention, while other hidden vehicles can also be unlocked. Pocket Rs is an extremely competitive racing game, and while it enjoys a taxing solo mode, can also accommodate up to four players simultaneously using the wireless capabilities of the PSP hardware. A ‘Tagging’ game where players attempt to colour objects forms the basis of one multi-player mode, while a madcap ‘Soccer’ mode also shows off the speed and sensitivity of the game’s controls.
